Panda Class Blog - 21st May 2025


Dear Panda Families, 

We hope you are all well! 

The Pandas continue to shine each day, and we are very impressed with how well they are engaging in our Unit 'How We Express Ourselves'. 

We have been learning about different musical instruments, as well as various types of music such as pop, rock, jazz, classical and hip-hop! The children are learning to express how different pieces of music make them feel. We use a visual prompt to remind us how to describe our feelings too. 

We are now looking at different artists and have recently learnt about Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh, Degas and will soon be looking at Monet's Waterlillies! 

The classroom is buzzing with creative energy as the children have been storytelling to one another and creating their own stories through puppets, popsicle stick puppets and other props. We will be integrating role play and dress up soon, too, and are looking forward to seeing where their imaginations will take them!

We enjoyed painting with different tools so much in open play last week that we are now exploring this further in our classroom at arrival time. The children are so good at remembering how to make new colours using the primary colours. We hope you'll be impressed with their artwork when it arrives home!

In open play, the Monkey Class is hosting puppet shows and storytelling, making it a very popular classroom with the Pandas! They are learning to narrate stories very well in front of an audience.

The sandpit has turned into a summer beach with chairs, buckets and spades to welcome Summer on the horizon! 

Playdough and clay exploration in the Frog class has been very busy so far, and outside, the children are absolutely thrilled to have the obstacle course where they can jump on jelly mats and balance on beams!

Yesterday, the K1S listened very well to the visiting authors who read us their wonderful book 'Thank You Auntie'. The children had the option of making a card for their aunties during open play.



Here are some other books we have been reading in class recently for your reference. We have been learning that if at first we don't succeed, we can try and try again, and these books have been helpful in illustrating this :








We are also learning to be kind about each other's artwork, and the children have been making each other smile with their positive words to one another.

K1 Celebration of Learning (Art Day) - Thursday 19 June

We are delighted to invite parents to join our K1 End-of-Year Celebration of Learning - Art Day, which will be held on 19 June at Hillside for all K1 classes. Please take note of the following details:

  • This is not a normal full-session school day. Children and parents will only attend during their chosen time slot.
  • Families are invited for a 1-hour session. AM slots: 9:00/10:30; PM slots: 1:15/2:45. Please look out for a separate app message to sign up soon.
  • Non-uniform: Children are welcome to express their unique style and personality through their outfit choices.
  • We invite up to 2 grown-ups to accompany their child to Art Day.
  • Please be reminded that we are unable to provide parking.
  • There will be no bus service on that day, and we ask for your understanding and assistance on this exceptional occasion.

We look forward to the children sharing their learning with you on this special day!

                                    Dear Panda Class AM & PM Parents, Welcome to our first Panda Class blog of the term! Panda Class Blog - Wednesday 30th October

  Dear Panda Class Families, We hope you are having a good week so far! The children are very excited about dressing in their choice of outfits tomorrow (Thursday 31st October)! Please note that we are continuously encouraging independence in terms of toileting and in general, so it would be helpful if the children don't wear one-piece outfits or 'onesies', to make it easier for the children to manage.   We would like to wish you all a Happy Halloween for tomorrow!  Diwali is also tomorrow, so we are also sending Happy Diwali wishes!  There's lots to celebrate at the moment! Thank you to those of you who joined the Parent Teacher Conferences last week, it was great to meet with you.  This week, the children have been observing our plants. Panda Class Blog - 18th June 2025

Dear Panda Families,  We can't believe this is our final blog post, as we mark the end of Term 3. It has been a fantastic K1 year! We have loved teaching your children and are so impressed by all they have achieved!  We look forward to seeing you tomorrow for our Art Day! The children are welcome to express their unique style and personality through their own outfit choices!   The Pandas are showing they are ready and raring for a summer holiday, and also that they're ready to embrace their new learning adventures and journeys in K2!
