K1 Panda Class

Dear Families, Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our classroom activities. Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring the themes of winter and Lunar New Year celebrations. The children have enjoyed observing the changes in our environment during winter, particularly through outdoor discussions and play.  We even "saw" the wind by watching crepe paper strips dance in the air!  Additionally, we learned about staying warm in winter and discovered the Chinese names for various winter clothes through the story "外面真冷啊“ (It's Cold Outside!) As we celebrated the Lunar New Year, we focused on traditional customs and cultural activities. The children learned key phrases, such as "新年好“ (Happy New Year), ”红包“ (Red Packet), and "巡游“ (Parade) through stories like ”春节“ (Spring Festival) and ”新年大巡游“ (Lunar New Year Parade).  They created beautiful tangerine artwork to enhance the festive atmosphere and learned the song ”恭喜恭喜“ (Kung Hei Kung Hei),...

Dear Panda Families,  We hope you are all well! The Pandas are enjoying our recent activities and learning engagements surrounding the Lunar New Year!  Tomorrow (Thursday, 23rd January) is a non-uniform day. The children are invited to wear their Lunar New Year clothes.  On Friday 24th, it's a 'dress casual' day, so the children can wear a non-uniform and choose to wear clothes of their choice (ideally colourful clothes, not Disney/Marvel costumes). We're all looking forward to visiting Bradbury tomorrow with all of our K1 classes and K2 to watch the lion dance! As you may have seen from our photo albums, the Pandas have been gleefully playing instruments such as the drums and cymbals and taking turns to puppet dragons and lions in open play! Dear Panda Class Families, Happy New Year!  We hope you have enjoyed the festive holiday and we warmly welcome you to Term 2 here in Panda Class! Thank you very much for adding your holiday photos to our shared Google photo albums. We are allocating time to this each day so that your child can have a turn to share their memories with us.  It is important to us that every child gets a turn to share. Some children prefer to sit down and speak to the class, while others like to stand up in front of the class. Either way, we are so happy to hear about what they've seen and done in the last couple of weeks.  We are looking forward to learning about the Lunar New Year very soon and hope to make some lovely artwork which the children will take home in due course! As we settle back into school, we'll be focussing on our year-long Unit of Inquiry, 'Who We Are' for the next two weeks, and then we'll start a brand new Unit, 'How The World Works.'  The Pandas have been...
